KUDOS to YOU!  Read about fellow NYCEA members and their accomplishments....

Kudos! to Elaine Ognibene!  Her son, a high school chemistry teacher in Fairport, New York, won the New York State Teacher of the Year Award and is now eligible to win the National Award.  There is no greater compliment to a life than to have one's children succeed--congrats Elaine and family!

Kudos! to Angela Belli!  Her new edited volume, written with Jack Coulehan, Primary Care: More Poems by Physicians, has won literary acclaim from reviewers as a recent title from University of Iowa Press.  Angela, a past NYCEA President, is a prolific writer focusing on medicine and literature.  We all wish her a hearty congratulations for another successful publication!

Kudos! to Peter Siedlecki!  Peter recently published a volume of poetry, Voyeur, from Lightening Source Inc.  Peter has had other published in literary magazines such as 2River, and others.  Congratulations to Peter--you make us look good!

 Kudos! to Charles Ernst and Joseph Pestino!  These two long-time NYCEA Board members, are also actively involved with the our national mother-organization, the CEA.  Both Charles and Joe work hard on keeping NYCEA members abreast of all the CEA goings-on, and organize NYCEA-sponsored panels at the national conference.  Thanks for bringing more professional opportunities to our door, you two!  We're so proud to have you on our team! 

Kudos! to Deborah Vanderbilt at St. John Fisher College!  Deb, one of our beloved Board members, became Chair of the Department of English at SJF in June 2007.  Deb, you're one in a million--and your Department must think so, too!  We're lucky to have you--best wishes for a successful tenure as Chair!

Kudos! to Howard Wolf for his most recent book, FARAWAY PLACES, with Artzy Press, Israel, 2008.  I mention it on the blog; it's a wonderful compilation of Howard's travel writing.  Congratulations, Dr. Wolf! 

Kudos! to Juliet Emmanuel for a terrific spring 2008 conference at BMCC and for her nomination to Vice President! We're lucky to have your leadership, Juliet!
